nine inch nailsが、レコード会社との契約が無くなって完全にフリーになったと、オフィシャルサイトでTrentが発表しました。

Hello everyone. I've waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.
Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008. Exciting times, indeed.

サイト上では、英文は全て小文字で表示されていますが、ソースを見ると、１行目の「LONG」が全部大文字になっているんですよね。そこにTrentの気持ちがよく出ているような気がします。
少し前に、「year zero」の値段のことでオーストラリアのユニバーサルに怒っていたし、ネットを利用した「year zero」のゲリラ的プロモーションについてのインタビューでも、レコード会社への不信感が表れていたし、今まで色々不満がたまっていたんだろうなぁ。
radioheadもレコード会社との契約が無くなって、次のアルバムはサイトからDLとディスク・ボックスで販売するというし、The Charlatansの次のアルバムは、無料でDLできるようになるらしいし、Ashもアルバムでの発売はやめて曲ごとのDLがメインになるようだし*1、nine inch nailsもDLメインになるのかな？
Trentなら、上の３つのバンドとも違うことをやると思うので、今後の動きに注目です。
